G3 Macintosh is the earlier computer system. In the mid of 2000s, Mac officially discontinued this series of computer system. It is because of switched off G4 processor. However several old G3 Mac were running Mac OS X. It means those Macintosh users cab access disk utility. It (Disk utility) is a very handy program that allows Mac users to repair Mac hard disks, re-partitioning Mac hard drive and confidently clean up Mac hard drive.

With the help of “Disk Utility” you can wipe G3 Mac hard drive. To wipe Mac you need to follow the given steps such as: -

Step 1: Insert the Disk Utilities disk, usually Installer Disk 1, into your Mac and wait for the disk to mount.

Step 2: Restart G3 Power Mac with pressing “C” key

Step 3: Select the “Installer menu” and select “Open Disk Utility“.

Step 4: Now choose “Erase” and press “Zero All Data” button. This will completely wipe your G3 hard drive of a G3 Mac running OS X.

Step 5: Finally click on the “Erase Disk” button and still wait for a few moments till the hard drive of the G3 Power Mac to be wiped clean.

Step-by-step Guide to Wipe Mac Drive

Step 1: Insert the CD and reboot your Mac OS X as well as press “C” during the start-up process.

Step 2: Choose your language and then after “Welcome to the Mac OS X Installer” Window will see.

Step 3:  Now click “Open Disk Utility” from the “Installer Menu Bar”.  Here you can see the “Disk Utility” window.

Step 4: Now you need to select the Mac drive(s) you want to wipe. Here all Mac hard drives are listed in the left pane of the Disk Utility window.

Step 5: Now click on the Erase tab (In Disk Utility Windows) to delete all files and folders from the select Mac drives.

Step 6: Now select Mac OS Extended (Journal) from the Volume Format drop-down menu.

Step 7: Now highlight the existing text and type the name the hard drive in the “Name field” which will be actual name after format Mac drives.

Step 8: if you want to set security option you can choose any one of them such as:

  • Don’t Erase Data
  • Zero Out Data
  • 7-Pass Erase
  • 35-Pass Erase

Step 9: After choosing any Security option then click “OK”.

Step 10: Now click “Wipe” Mac.

Step 11: Now make sure you really Wipe Mac.

After this step the Wipe process will begin and after a few moments all Mac drives will be empty.
