Enhance the Speed of MS Outlook 2007 with PST File Splitter

Monday, November 23rd, 2009

The Outlook 2007 is the latest version of MS Outlook. It accepts the UNICODE as well as ANSI code for the PST file. It comes with several advanced features that were missing in the earlier versions of MS Outlook. One of the problems that people come across while using Outlook 2007 is the slow working of Outlook when one is configuring it to Exchange Server. This happens so because the data that is stored in the PST file has grown from its normal size of 2GB or 4GB. As a result of which, accessing to any particular data or folder becomes a tedious task.

To make the Outlook 2007 work faster, you can go though the following methods mentioned below:

  • Reduce the size of the Exchange mailbox. If the size of the Exchange mailbox is larger, then it takes a lot of time to access emails and download them. So, manually delete all the junk emails or archive those mails to one or more files or use Mail Box cleanup tool.
  • On your MS Outlook 2007, install Update 933493. By doing so, the speed of the Outlook will increase and no matter how large the PST file is, you can easily access it very quickly.
  • Filter out the PST items to prevent synchronization with the Exchange Server. In order to do so, right click on the folder and then Properties and through that go to the synchronization and then filter. In the filter dialog, specify the filter criteria. The next time when you will use Outlook, it would synchronize reduced PST size and hence the speed of the Outlook increases.

images001Even if the slow working of the Outlook 2007 is not sorted out, then the only way to enhance its speed is by breaking down the oversized PST file into smaller PST files. It can be done using PST File Splitter. The PST File Splitter is a 3 rd party utility tool that splits the large PST file into the respective smaller ones. Once the file is broken down into the smaller one using this split pst file software, the working of the Outlook increases and you can do any kind of work on that without waiting or any kind of trouble.
